tolia[fotolia]For many years everything was very clear with regard to generation management: We have a Generation X who works diligently and loyally for us and a Generation Y who is looking for meaning and self-fulfillment. The consequences can now be clearly seen: companies are increasingly turning into luxury hotels with relaxation rooms, open spaces and, in some cases, fully equipped fitness studios. But now there is another generation that is pushing its way into the labor market: Generation Z. The result is hybrid teams from three generations that present managers with tough challenges. After a short introduction, I would like to give differentiated recommendations for the management of the three generations. Generation X If you look at that Portal Absolventa, one finds the following definition: For the so-called Generation X this is professional advancement the most important goal when looking for a job. At least that is what the study…
Image source: https://rcphotostock.com – © rcphotostock ( 7989 ) In the financial industry, digital transformation is not just a question of technical progress. There is much more to it. Financial institutions need something that enables them to achieve true digital transformation, and that means a lot more to do than bombard users with notifications from cutting-edge mobile apps. We have to keep in mind that the focus of digital transformation is not only on technology, but also on user experience, opportunity, speed and efficiency. True digital transformation is based on technology, but also requires a culture of agile banking, so it is in the GFT blog . But what is such a culture of agile banking and how can such a bank implement this? First I show the changed framework conditions of the banks and then a few recommendations for action. In particular, methods of what agile banking can look…
Digitization is changing people and markets. It causes disruptive upheavals in entire industries, creates new digital-centric companies and requires established companies to make considerable efforts to cope with the transformation activities associated with these digitization processes. New procedural models have to be learned, tried and tested thought patterns have to be broken and, last but not least, innovation activities have to be understood as continuous necessities. At the same time, there are significant opportunities in digital business to renew competitive advantages, improve existing process structures and realign your own products, services and business models (Source: Digital Business Leadership von Kreuzer et al.). In the aforementioned book: Digital Business Leadership, three very exciting questions were asked, which I would like to list here and which I would also like to try to answer in the course of the article: What distinguishes digital business leadership and how can this be achieved? But…
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO), a new management position, is increasingly being created to plan and implement the digital transformation in companies. In view of this development, the question arises whether the Chief Information Officer (CIO) cannot also be responsible for the digital transformation in organizations (Source: Walchshofer and Riedl). But what does a Chief Digital Officer do? Tasks of the CDO In their study, Walchshofer and Riedl examined the various tasks of the CDO on the basis of job advertisements. So both state: The CDO is responsible for developing the digital strategy responsible. This strategy is derived from the corporate strategy and should be implemented by the CDO and anchored in the company. Farther he is responsible for controlling and checking the change. It should develop and derive new business models and check them for feasibility. The central task of the CDO is also to create efficient structures. By…

Foreword by Dr. Andreas Zeuch I first met Dominic via Twitter and then via Xing. In the course of our dialogue we began to deal with the current and pressing topic of “New Work”. In this context, Dominic wrote my last book “All Power for Nobody. Awakening of the Corporate Democrats “read and today he publishes the review here. In order for all of us to be successful in facing the challenges of a social transformation towards more participation, including in the world of work, closely interlinked cooperation and ongoing dialogue about the risks and opportunities of democratic work design are required. Today’s review is a step more in this direction, which I fully support and which of course delights me. You, dear readers, have fun with the following review. Dr. Andreas Zeuch (* 1968) accompanies companies as a consultant, trainer and speaker on their way to more participation and…
Agile methods of software development have quickly become the best practice solution for modern companies. Software companies in particular achieve faster and more customer-oriented results with the agile way of working. However, this way of working requires an agile environment and customers of these companies often still work in the sequential waterfall model. Both models are contradicting each other and therefore, when combined, often lead to wrong decisions, budget overruns and massive change management. Existing solutions are often not empirically proven, only to be understood as frameworks or not tailored to this special context. In the course of this work, a concept is developed which coordinates both methods as a hybrid process in order to avoid wrong decisions and budget overruns and to reduce change management. This concept is based on current literature and was evaluated with IT experts. It is also tested and evaluated in an IT service provider…
The topic of digital transformation is on everyone’s lips and is leading to a so-called “digital change” in many companies. According to many companies, this digital change first requires a digital strategy. But what does this mean for companies and what can such a digital strategy for digital change look like? Digital strategy To counteract the rapid pace of digital transformation, many sources suggest “transforming the company in an agile manner”. One Article on agility and digital transformation I have already published. A fundamental change from analog business models to digital is also in the foreground for the digital strategy. The basic idea in this blog is the structural change from companies to “agile” and “evolutionary” companies. Because in this way they can react flexibly and quickly to the coming complexity of the digital transformation. In the following, we will initially start with the fundamental structural change of companies as…
Based on his investigation of the concept of freedom, the Austro-American social philosopher Frithjof Bergmann developed the concept of the NewWork – of the New job . Bergmann’s criticism begins with a criticism of the American concept of freedom. He does not understand freedom to mean being able to choose between two (more or less bad) alternatives (freedom of choice). Rather, freedom means having the opportunity to do something really important (freedom of action). New job offers space for creativity and personal development. Change in society Our society is changing from an industrial to a knowledge society. Correspondingly, corporate structures and work spaces are also changing: service, information and creative workers are moving into the center of global economic activity, and while the work-life balance is being evoked, the boundaries between professional and private life are blurring. As creative workers, we are becoming increasingly self-employed, even if we are permanently…
