Research methods each have advantages and disadvantages, and you have to consciously choose them accordingly. A selection of the research method is usually justified by the advantages and then sensibly limited by the disadvantages. In the bachelor thesis, for example, you have to argue why you preferred an expert interview to the survey. Since your method does not, of course, reveal the entire knowledge on the topic, it should also be sensibly limited. In this article I show the advantages and disadvantages of each methodology. Tip: Use the advantages to justify your choice and pack the disadvantages into the limitation of your work. Literature analysis Literature analyzes form the foundation of any research and summarize similar findings. It helps in understanding, structuring existing knowledge and finding research gaps. Nevertheless, the following points should be limited: Novelty: Often literature analyzes only summarize existing knowledge and do not generate any new knowledge.Incompleteness:…

Kubernetes is currently on everyone’s lips. But many IT departments find it difficult to set up their own concept. Instead, people are increasingly using ready-made cloud applications. But what exactly is Kubernetes and what benefits does it offer? This article is intended to provide answers to these and other questions. What is Kubernetes? As a Google project from 2014, Kubernetes was made available as an open source project after more than 15 years of research. The portable and infinitely expandable platform is used to manage containerized workloads and services. These can not only be set up and operated better, they can also be scaled much more easily. This not only simplifies automation, but also configurations enormously. Kubernetes is so trendy because the project can be used to replace manually controlled servers with an automated version. Kubernetes not only regulates the production process, it also provides the right rhythm. In technical…

Would you like to advance professionally and try to stand out in the company so that the long-awaited promotion comes to you? Company events are a good opportunity to get to know executives and other employees better, also privately, and to show that you can identify with the company in your free time. Is that true or are such events just unpaid overtime? Reading tip: Become a senior professionally Company events as unpaid working time Relaxing with colleagues over a beer after work or at company events – career boost or annoying overtime? To understand this better I would like to a survey by the job portal Karriere.at briefly point out. The results of the more than 500 interviewed employees on the topic of after-work beer with colleagues and company events are: Just over 30% find company events annoying and do not attend them at allJust under 30% limit their…

The establishment of work 4.0 and agile methods have far-reaching influences on employees in many ways. One of them is employee health. But how do these effects show up in concrete terms? I would like to give four examples and discuss them. More life satisfaction through work-life balance A currently much discussed buzzword is work-life balance. Already a Study of universe shows that a good work-life balance is the most important career goal for two thirds of young professionals. But what exactly does work-life balance mean? When it comes to work-life balance, I am thinking of models such as flexitime, home office and mobile work, for example in the café around the corner. But is that all? To this end, I have held various round tables. The board of one of the largest German trade unions said that you can fix a work-life balance at work location and working hours.…

Do you have a great software product and already have your first customers? Now is the product also to be scaled in the market and the first major customers to be served with it? Many companies and startups face these challenges. In order to give recommendations, I have created a framework, which I would like to present in the following. It serves as an impulse for your strategy development. My idea is that you form a team to copy the product Scrum meaningful and well developed. It receives requirements and feedback from a technology board. The product is customized for customers by special teams. example : Think of it like a laptop. You provide the laptop with basic settings and the special teams install certain software on the laptop depending on the user and use it to adapt the laptop. The Technology Board The Technology Board consists of the architects…

Service companies such as IT consulting, insurance agencies, tax advice and much more often consider how agility can take place in harmony with the customer. The aim is a high degree of flexibility with regard to customer requirements and Scrum is often not a direct solution due to the long sprint times in an ad hoc business. I would like to give a recommendation for action in this article. Spotify model The streaming service Spotify was founded in 2006, today has sales of over 4 billion euros and has 3,000 employees. This success story can be traced back to a wide variety of factors. One of them is the agile organizational form of Spotify, which is now taken as a model by numerous companies. The Spotify model provides for so-called squads to be defined for certain areas. These are loose groups that have a specific purpose and work in an…

You know that: A company blog is to be set up and now the content has to be planned. You are dependent on the content of the company’s experts, but day-to-day business always comes first? So you can’t plan straight away and you don’t know exactly which items you need and will actually get? I feel the same way. I blog out of whim and see how much time I still have in addition to work and private life. But how can you plan that? This is possible with the help of agile elements. Agile planning: in a nutshell I understand agile planning to be a vision, target definition or the setting of framework conditions. So, depending on the meaningfulness of a project, you have to do the following: a vision e.g. we enable car sharing for customers,Goals, for example, we create a CarSharing app for iOS orFramework conditions, for…

Success is defined as the positive result of an effort or the achievement of a set goal (Duden). Almost everyone strives for success. But success is not always success. I would therefore like to dedicate this article to the topic of success and break it down according to three generations, i.e. three types of success. In each category I give a slightly exaggerated example to illustrate. Perhaps you will find yourself in a category. Reading tip: Generation management Professionally successful through status: Generation X Generation X were born between 1965 and 1980 and are considered to be conscientious, status-oriented and demand a separation of private and professional life. So what could success mean for this generation? Studies and the current facts show that status and symbols are very important. Imagine: You drive to work in your big car in the morning and you are the head (manager) of a department.…

You know that: The bachelor thesis – you start and want to change the world: Build a framework that completely changes companies or a new type of theory to scale agility in the company! I think these visions are really great, but perhaps as a young researcher you should narrow it down a bit in your first research paper to only 30 pages. I often get calls and inquiries for help for one Bachelor thesis in my telephone hours . I would therefore like to shed some light on the dark in this article. Let’s be honest: The primary goal of the bachelor thesis is to learn something and to get the degree. You can still change the world afterwards in your doctorate. Mistake 1: A bachelor thesis does not solve a practical problem or utopia At the beginning, many of you spoke to a practice partner or supervisor and…

The case study is a possible approach to depict certain processes and circumstances within an organization or a situation. The aim of a case study is to supplement the findings from theory with those from practice. The strength of case studies lies in the fact that complex processes and procedures within a company can be clearly illustrated and can be used as examples. A point of criticism of a case study is often that general deductions from the individual case to the whole are not always possible or only possible under certain aspects. The reason for this is the strong contextual relevance to the respective case. Types of case studies There are two types of case studies. Case studies consider a case with a mostly critical, unique, typical or previously inaccessible nature over a longer period of time (Bodendorf et al. 2010). In doing so, you examine a company or…
